Veterinarian - Equine Jobs in Perth - October 2026

Working as a veterinary professional in Perth

Perth's veterinary market is smaller than the eastern states' capitals but consistently undersupplied — clinics regularly advertise for vets and nurses for months at a time, which means real negotiating power on salary and rosters. Opportunities span suburban general practice, emergency centres, and rural roles within driving distance of the city.

WA's isolation also means fewer locum relief options for clinics, so permanent candidates who commit locally are highly valued.

Equine veterinarian roles

Equine practice in Australia spans pleasure-horse ambulatory work, stud medicine (particularly in the Hunter Valley and Victoria's thoroughbred heartland), and specialist racetrack roles. Positions are concentrated in regional centres, and experienced equine vets are among the hardest roles for clinics to fill.
