Veterinarian - Small Animal Jobs in Perth - October 2026 (29)

Working as a veterinary professional in Perth

Perth's veterinary market is smaller than the eastern states' capitals but consistently undersupplied — clinics regularly advertise for vets and nurses for months at a time, which means real negotiating power on salary and rosters. Opportunities span suburban general practice, emergency centres, and rural roles within driving distance of the city.

WA's isolation also means fewer locum relief options for clinics, so permanent candidates who commit locally are highly valued.

Small animal veterinarian roles

Small animal practice is the largest segment of the Australian veterinary job market. Typical responsibilities include consultations, surgery, dentistry and preventative medicine for dogs, cats and pocket pets. Roles range from new-graduate positions with structured mentoring through to senior vet and leadership roles — read each listing's experience requirements and salary band before applying.
