Working as a veterinary professional in Melbourne

Melbourne's veterinary sector is one of the deepest job markets in Australia: suburban general practices, not-for-profit hospitals, a major specialist referral network, and the University of Melbourne's veterinary teaching hospital at Werribee. inner-city clinics often offer mentoring-heavy environments suited to new graduates, while outer-suburban and regional-fringe practices frequently seek experienced vets and nurses who can run cases autonomously.

Melbourne is also home to a large locum market, with short-term roles available year-round. If you're moving to the city, many clinics offer flexibility on full-time, part-time and casual arrangements.
