Hills District Veterinary Hospital
Job Description
Part Time or Casual Mandarin/Cantonese Speaking Veterinarian
Hills District Veterinary Hospital — Dural, North West Sydney
About Us
We are a modern, independently owned hospital with a laid-back, friendly team and very low staff turnover. The team consists of 3 vets and 3 vet nurses, and currently sees dogs and cats only, although we are open to special species interests if desired.
Our facilities include:
- Spacious architect-designed two-storey complex with elevator and ample parking
- Dedicated pathology room including Vetscan, HM5, UA machine, V-Check, Olympus microscope
- Digital x-ray, ultrasound, IM3 dental suite, handheld dental x-ray machine
- Companion Laser machine, Cryopen
- Full surgery suite including electrocautery and suction
- Anaesthetic monitoring equipment including pulse ox, capnograph, internal temp, ECG, blood pressure
- Mobile specialists for complex surgery and imaging
- EzyVet software
- Spare consult room available to rent for special interests
About You
We are looking for a friendly, approachable and client-focused veterinarian looking for their forever clinic. We have a diverse client base, including many Chinese-speaking families, so the ability to consult fluently in Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese) is required.
This position involves sole charge and is unfortunately not suitable for new or recent graduates needing supervision and mentorship.
Days and hours are completely negotiable. We are closed Sundays, public holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Year. We do not accept walk-ins, except the occasional emergency and hospital drop-off. We would ideally like someone for two short shifts weekly, but this is negotiable.
You will have your own computer and consult room to fit out how you like. Consults are 30 minutes long and most of our clients are very compliant and happy to work up and treat complicated cases.
This role is majority sole charge, however you will have two competent nurses on at a time to help if needed, and there will be periods of overlap with the other two vets. The other vets can be contacted or brought in if further support is required (e.g. complex surgeries, emergencies). Due to the current growth of the clinic, periods of sole charge are likely to decrease over time.
About the Role
- Ideal start early 2027
- Fully negotiable, flexible shifts and hours
- No public holidays, weekends, after hours or on-call
- Casual rate with equivalent rates available for permanent
- Special interests welcome, encouraged and financially supported
Please reach out to Dr Cassie at director@hillsdistrictvet.com.au, otherwise we are happy to arrange a time for you to drop in and have a chat. Questions are always welcome — we would love to hear from you.
