New Graduate Veterinarian New Grad Friendly
Job Description
🐾 New Graduate Veterinarian — Supported Development Pathway (Port
Augusta, SA)
We invite applications from new or recent veterinary graduates seeking
a structured, supportive, and evidence-based start to their clinical
career. Our clinic offers a comprehensive development environment
designed to build confidence, competence, and long-term sustainability
in practice.
🩺 Clinical Support & Mentorship
Our new-graduate program provides:
✓ Paired surgeries with an experienced veterinarian
✓ A nurse present in every consultation
✓ Daily clinical check-ins and guided case management
✓ A psychologically safe learning environment with no “sink or swim”
expectations
✓ AI-assisted medical records to reduce administrative burden and
support timely case documentation
✓ A mentor with post-graduate studies in veterinary workforce and
attrition
✓ The clinic is 99.9% small animal but interest in other species is
encouraged
🌿 Workplace Culture & Wellbeing
The clinic is led by a director with a PhD in veterinary attrition and
wellbeing. Our systems, workflows, and leadership model are
intentionally designed to prevent burnout and promote psychosocial
safety. We operate through cohesive, collaborative leadership rather
than traditional hierarchy; nurses and vets get to be clinical leads
and all team members contribute to clinical standards and
decision-making (within reason).
📋 Contract Structure
We offer a 12-month new-graduate contract, specifically designed to
provide a strong, supported foundation for early-career veterinarians.
This structure allows us to continue developing new graduates each year
while ensuring each individual receives focused mentorship. For the
right candidate, longer contracts and long-term progression
opportunities — including a partnership pathway — are available.
🏞️ Location & Lifestyle
Port Augusta offers an affordable, spacious, and community-oriented
lifestyle with exceptional access to the Flinders Ranges and regional
South Australia. New graduates benefit from rapid clinical exposure,
continuity of care, and a supportive client base.
✨ Ideal Candidate
We seek a kind, curious, collaborative new graduate who values
patient-first care, teamwork, and sustainable practice. This role is
suited to individuals seeking a safe, structured, and empowering start
to their veterinary career.
